Some venture capitalists have said that these technologies promise abundant and cheap energy that will have an economic impact by an order of magnitude greater than that of the Internet in the 20th century.The energy problem seems insurmountable given the Peak Oil Thesis and given that 2.5 billion Chinese and Indians are rapidly increasing their per capita use of oil from 1.5 barrels annually up toward the American per capita use of 25 barrels annually. The Holy Grail is EEStor's Ultra Capacitor that could replace the electrochemical battery and provide a 500 mile range between five minute charges. Charging cars at night might not require constructing new power plants until 80% of U.S. cars are powered by electricity. Caveat, Edwards is an engineer who is stronger in technical analysis than in literary organization. But he gives an important heads-up on the new energy and automotive technologies. No one should invest in the energy and automotive industries without reading this book.
